Two new CDs from La-La Land Records are heading your way!

First up is a combo album which features not one, but two scores by acclaimed composer Mark Snow’s (The X-Files, Smallville, Ghost Whisperer) original scores to the Chris Carter television series The Lone Gunmen, (a spin-off of The X-Files), and Harsh Realm.  Aside from The Lone Gunmen‘s infectious main theme, the spin-off series allowed Snow to creatively explore a variety of styles and genres in dynamic fashion, while Harsh Realm offered him an opportunity to take his trademark atmospherics into new areas of techno-sophistication and profound emotion.  Produced by Mark Snow and MV Gerhard, and mastered by James Nelson, this collection of music from two Mark Snow & Chris Carter TV collaborations is limited to only 2,000 copies, so get them before there gone! It also features exclusive liner notes by Julie Kirgo.

Next up is an oldie, but a goodie. It’s composer Les Baxter’s (The Dunwich Horror, Panic in the Year Zero, The Raven, Hell’s Belles, Bikini Beach) original score to the 1965 beach party classic Beach Blanket Bingo, starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello, directed by William Asher. Mr. Baxter’s fun, and naturally far-out and groovy music serves as an outstanding example of the indelible sound he crafted for all of beach-themed musical comedies.  Produced by Ford A. Thaxton and James Nelson, and mastered by James Nelson, this release is limited to 1,200 copies and features in-depth, exclusive liner notes by Randall Larson.  Due to licensing rights issues, the music-only backing tracks of the film’s songs appear without vocals.  Given the condition of the master tapes, having been in storage for more than 45 years, the tracks on this release were painstakingly enhanced to the best quality possible.
