I finally watched Sherlock Holmes and I have to say, I was not impressed by the score. I know it's my least favorite composer of all time but I just thought it was one note. Not like the Joker theme was one note, but i thought it lacked anything great.

The alternate ending wouldn't have made sense with all the "caseworkers" being male (to then have a female chairperson)---she'd be much too wise for that---to have only male caseworkers.

Still, it was in the mind of the director/writer. They just couldn't redo the entire thing (add in female caseworkers) and they wanted it left more open-ended.

Still, there are elements that are being missed in every blog I read. Elise herself is a bit of an enigma. She's in the men's bathroom initially, "hiding" from a wedding that she crashed on a dare---a dare from herself. That's not without meaning, whatever it might mean. She has a self-assertiveness about herself that draws David to her. Most importantly, right before she decides to go through the door WITH David (who has not been very reliable) they walk out onto the green and there is Lady Liberty (again, symbolic in a huge way---anyone who doesn't get that---look it up---and the origins in general--especially in an archetypal way.)

Bottom line---it's not a story about "love conquers all"---it's more about relationship is more important and transformative than power and fame. Something the world would do well to understand. Especially the USA.
Check out the book, The End of Arrogance: American in the Global Marketplace of Ideas (short book but excellent.)

Great review. I have a solution in my review that would make that "end credit" sequence make make more sense. I cant wait to see the sequel where Sinestro secretly hides his newfound abilities behind the Guardians' backs.
